Roles within the lab

Postdoctoral Fellows

While the majority of our postdocs are members of the training program, we do also train traditional postdoctoral researchers who have one or two specific research projects. We welcome applications from fellows with independent funding at any time; other projects will be announced on a funding-available basis.

Research Scientists and Associates

Our research scientists and associates support our team in performing image analysis, particularly on large-scale screens.

Software Engineer

Our lab supports a number of software engineers who focus on maintaining and improving our scientific image analysis software

Sabbatical/Visiting Scientist

We welcome professors to our group as visiting scientists for sabbaticals. We have also hosted fully funded graduate students as visiting scientists as well as scientists via scientific society exchange programs (such as Global Bioimaging or Bioimaging North America), subject to mentorship capacity and availability. Please contact imagingadmin(at)broadinstitute.org for more information.

Paid Internships/Short Term Research Opportunities

We do occasionally offer paid short-term internships of less than one year, subject to project and mentor availability. The opportunities will be announced on the image.sc forum and/or via the sponsoring organization (such as the MIT SuperUROP program).

Unpaid Internships

For equity reasons, we do not accept unpaid internships under any circumstances.

Students

As the Broad Institute is not a degree-granting institution, we do not directly accept students at any level, though we typically mentor 1-2 students per year through visiting scientist and/or internship programs (see above for more information).
